VARANASI, April 30 -- Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat will perform the Kanyadan (the tradition where the bride's father symbolically gives her hand to the groom) of 111 brides in a mass wedding ceremony scheduled in Varanasi on Wednesday, coinciding with Akshaya Tritiya. The announcement was made by RSS Kashi province Kshetra Karyavah Virendra Jaiswal. Among the brides, 30 belong to tribal families from Sonbhadra and Mirzapur districts. All participants in the ceremony are from economically weaker backgrounds, according to the organisers.
