Rs.60-cr drug unit busted in Bhiwadi, 3 arrested
Alwar, Dec. 30 -- In a joint operation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) and Bhiwadi police have busted an illegal drug manufacturing unit in Bhiwadi's Alwar district, seizing narcotic substances worth around Rs.60 crore. Three men, including the company owner, have been arrested, police said.
The operation was carried out at a Pharma-Chem unit located in the Kahrani industrial area of Bhiwadi. During the raid, officers recovered nearly 22 kg of Alprazolam powder, a banned psychotropic substance. The raid was conducted under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police said the factory was engaged in the illegal production of Alprazolam.
Cases have been registered against the company owners under various sections, and further investigation is underway.
Bhiwadi Superintendent of Police, Prashant Kiran, said the Gujarat ATS had received specific intelligence over the past several days indicating that a pharmaceutical company in Bhiwadi was involved in illicit drug manufacturing. The information was shared with Bhiwadi police, following which a joint strategy was drawn up and the raid executed.
