Rs.30-crore fraud case: Vikram Bhatt, wife sent to 7-day police custody
Udaipur, Dec. 10 -- Film producer Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari were sent to seven-day police custody on Tuesday by a local court in Udaipur in connection with an alleged Rs.30-crore fraud case.
"The couple was arrested by a special police team from Mumbai on Sunday and brought to Udaipur," said investigating officer DSP Chhagan Rajpurohit.
The case is based on allegations filed by Dr Ajay Murdia, director of Indira Group of Companies. An FIR was registered on November 17 against eight individuals, including the Bhatts. According to Murdia's complaint, he met producer Dinesh Katariya at an event, where Katariya pitched a biopic on Murdia's wife to highlight her national contributions.
In April 2024, Murdia visited Mumbai's Vrindavan Studio, met Vikram and signed a Rs.40-crore deal for two films with Vikram involved in the film making process and Murdia financing. He allegedly transferred Rs.30 crore to Vikram and vendors from May 2024 to June 2025.
