Rs.28K stolen after tampering with ATM
LUCKNOW, Dec. 20 -- A few miscreants reportedly stole Rs 28,500 from an ATM kiosk on Ashok Marg near Hazratganj, police said. They tampered with the machine's cash dispenser by installing a device that blocked the currency notes whenever a transaction was made, the police added.
The kiosk is owned by a public sector bank, and the thefts were made over multiple days. An FIR was registered at the Hazratganj police station on the complaint of a bank employee on Thursday, said SHO Vikram Singh. According to the FIR, two youths entered the kiosk on December 1, and discreetly fitted a device in the cash dispenser. The two returned the next morning, and fled with Rs 10,000 cash that was stuck to the device. An internal audit by the bank revealed similar incidents took place on December 3, 5 and 6, and the total loss was put at Rs 28,500.
A 30-year-old Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel deployed on VIP security duty died under mysterious circumstances in Lucknow on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as constable Gulzar Ali, son of Sharafat, a resident of Budhana in Muzaffarnagar district. Police said a preliminary inquiry revealed that after lunch at the mess around noon, the constable went to rest in the guard room. His colleagues found him unresponsive. He was rushed to Civil hospital, where he was declared dead.
A truck rammed into a motorcycle on the Kisan Path Outer Ring Road in Lucknow, killing a 45-year-old mason on the spot. The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled, prompting a police search on Friday morning, confirmed SHO, Kakori, Satish Chandra.
