Rs.133.84 crore additional stamp duty funds cleared for urban bodies
LUCKNOW, April 6 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the transfer of Rs.133.84 crore collected as 2% additional stamp duty on property transactions in notified urban areas to urban local bodies and development authorities for the financial year 2025-26.
The approval, issued by Amit Gupta, principal secretary, on March 31, also covers pending installments of the financial year 2024-25. The funds will be routed under the state budget head related to stamp and registration and will be distributed among municipal bodies, development authorities, the dedicated urban transport fund and special area development authorities.
According to the order, the amount will be released in a phased and need-based manner from the treasury, with strict adherence to financial rules and earlier government directions. The stamp and registration department will ensure that the distribution is carried out centrally after verification by competent authority.
The government has also directed that detailed records of fund withdrawal, including treasury references and dates, be maintained and shared with the stamp and registration department. Regular monitoring of utilisation of the allocated funds has been mandated to ensure proper use....
