LUCKNOW, June 12 -- Officials of the State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS) on Wednesday claimed to have recovered Rs 4.34 crore out of total Rs 9.94 crore that went to hospitals via fraudulent payments through alleged misuse of login IDs of senior officials. On June 6, an FIR was lodged at the Hazratganj police station against an unidentified person. According to a complaint filed by Dr BK Srivastava, state nodal officer at SACHIS, a total 6,239 payments were passed irregularly/fraudulently, amounting to Rs 9,94,13,386, stated the police. "We are working to recover the remaining amount. Notices have been issued and a probe is on to identify how these payments were made," said Archana Verma, CEO, SACHIS. "The IDs that have been misused include those of implementation support agency (ISA), accounts officer/manager (finance) and even the CEO of SACHIS. The payments were made between May 1 and 22, 2025," stated the FIR. Payments to the hospitals were made for treatment to be provided to patients under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. As per procedure, after completing treatment, hospitals put up claims, which at the first step are verified by ISA, an agency hired via tender process by SACHIS. The cleared bills are then checked by the medical auditor and then passed on to the accounts section for further process. "When the number of bills being cleared went over the average number for several days, a query was raised with the ISA, and it was found they did not clear the said bills," stated the police complaint....
