Rs 2.05 lakh extorted on pretext of overseas job; case registered
PRAYAGRAJ, April 12 -- A resident of Mutoli Tala village under Kandhai police station limits in Pratapgarh-Murkirjurrahman- lodged a complaint at Kotwali police station, alleging he was cheated of over Rs 2 lakh on the pretext of being sent abroad for employment.
According to the complaint, Murkirjurrahman met Ghulam Mustafa, a resident of Rajanpur, Kunda, while staying with a friend to explore job prospects. Mustafa claimed to run an office named Raza Tour & Travels in Saryu Nagar and assured Murkirjurrahman he could arrange a visa and job in Luxembourg. Mustafa allegedly promised that upon payment of Rs 2 lakh, Murkirjurrahman would be sent to Luxembourg, where he would earn 2,600 euros per month (around Rs 2.5 lakh), along with free food and accommodation. Trusting these claims, the complainant borrowed money from friends and transferred a total of Rs 2.05 lakh online to Mustafa between September 10, 2025, and February 11, 2026.
The accused reportedly took money from four other relatives of the complainant as well. On February 20, Mustafa allegedly handed over flight tickets for travel from Lucknow to Dubai and onward to Munich, Germany, but these tickets were later found to be fake.
When Murkirjurrahman demanded the return of his money and documents on March 6, Mustafa assured repayment by March 12 but failed to comply. On March 16, when the complainant visited the office again, the accused allegedly attempted to assault him. Based on the written complaint, police registered a case against Ghulam Mustafa and are investigating the matter....
