PRAYAGRAJ, July 21 -- A major accident was averted after the loco pilot of Prayagraj-Bareilly Express train spotted a bicycle lying on the railway track and informed the authorities concerned, on Saturday morning. A team of officers cleared the track for the train to proceed. On the complaint of the outpost in-charge, police registered a case and arrested the youth who had allegedly kept the cycle on the track. As per reports, the Prayagraj-Bareilly Express train was going from Bareilly to Prayagraj at 3.54am on Saturday. As soon as the train reached near Chakolia village in Manikpur, the loco pilot stopped the train after seeing a bicycle lying on the track. RPF outpost in-charge Kunda Harnamganj Pradeep Singh registered a case at Manikpur police station. Bareilly Express driver DK Shukla sent a memo to Kunda station master mentioning the presence of a bicycle in the middle of the railway track between Gadhi Manikpur and Kunda Harnamganj railway station. On receiving information, inspector-in-charge RPF Santosh Kumar Singh, chief loco inspector Rae Bareli Meraj Ahmed, senior section railway engineer Mohammad Kaleem reached the spot. After inspection, the bicycle was removed from the railway track and rail operations resumed smoothly. When RPF personnel interrogated villagers near the incident site, it was found that the bicycle on the railway track belonged to one Firoz Ahmed, a resident of Chakolia in Manikpur. The police registered a case against Firoz Ahmed and arrested him. During interrogation, Firoz confessed that the bicycle belonged to him and that he had kept the bicycle on the railway track. RPF Inspector Santosh Kumar Singh said that the train stopped at the spot for about 12 minutes. SHO Manikpur police station Deep Narayan said that a case had been registered and the accused was arrested. He further informed that Firoz was being interrogated for knowing more about his motive behind the act and other people possibly involved in it....
