Road map to make state spiritual capital of world soon: CM
Dehradun, Nov. 11 -- A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address at the main event of the state's silver jubilee celebrations on Sunday, said that Uttarakhand could become the "spiritual capital of the world" if it resolves to do so, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said a concrete road map will be prepared to implement the Prime Minister's suggestions and recommendations. The chief minister on Monday directed officials of the concerned departments to prepare a concrete action plan in line with the Prime Minister's suggestions.
Dhami said the Prime Minister's ideas provide clear guidance for the all-round development of Uttarakhand.
"The soul of the state lies in spirituality, tourism and natural resources, and Uttarakhand can be developed as the 'Spiritual Capital of the World'," he said. The chief minister directed that a comprehensive tourism and wellness package be prepared in every assembly constituency, incorporating yoga centres, Ayurveda centres, naturopathy institutes and homestays.
He said each vibrant village should be developed as a mini tourist hub promoting local cuisine, culture and handicrafts to attract more tourists to the state.
Dhami also proposed launching a One District, One Festival campaign to bring international recognition to the state's local fairs and festivals.
He said hill districts should be developed as horticulture hubs, promoting the cultivation of blueberries, kiwis, and herbal and medicinal plants.
Dhami said new opportunities should be created by strengthening MSMEs engaged in food processing, handicrafts and organic products.
He said pilgrimage, eco-tourism, adventure tourism and wellness tourism should be promoted under an integrated development policy....
