LUCKNOW, Sept. 30 -- The department of cardiology at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) on Monday observed World Heart Day under the theme 'Don't Miss a Beat'. The highlight of the event was the formal launch of 'MoveRMLIMS' by Prof CM Singh, director, RMLIMS. Prof Singh emphasised, "A healthy lifestyle is the cornerstone of good health and the most powerful tool in preventing heart disease." He encouraged the RMLIMS community to set an example and motivate society to adopt healthier habits. Prof Bhuwan Chandra Tiwari, head of the department of cardiology, underlined the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment of heart disease. He also encouraged incorporating 10,000 steps of walking daily into one's routine to maintain a strong and healthy heart. Prof Subrat Chandra, executive registrar, highlighted the role of awareness and education in preventing cardiovascular diseases, calling for collective efforts to reach communities with simple messages about lifestyle modification.
