LUCKNOW, May 2 -- As many as 240 security personnel at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) alleged that they were abruptly terminated from their jobs on Thursday, sparking protests at various gates of the institute. The guards staged demonstrations and submitted a letter to the hospital director, urging him to intervene in the matter. However, medical superintendent Dr Vikarm Kumar stated, "No hospital operations have been disrupted, and security arrangements remain intact." Further, both Dr Vikram as and the chief medical superintendent also have confirmed that neither they nor Director Dr CM Singh have received any letter from the protesting security personnel. According to a letter circulated in the media, the security personnel claimed that while contracting companies for security have changed in the past, the incoming contactors had always retained the existing guards. However, the recent appointment of King Security Services, the previous guards have reportedly lost their jobs. The letter, addressed to the RMLIMS director, requests the reinstatement of their positions. Dr Vikram further explained, "All of these former security guards were retired army and police personnel who were given security duties, and no contracting company is obliged to keep them," adding, "We have not received any formal request from the security guards, and no disruptions at the hospital were caused due to the protest."...
