LUCKNOW, Aug. 20 -- The Indian Railways is set to develop a second state-of-the-art coaching complex at Malhaur in Lucknow, a facility dedicated to the maintenance and upkeep of passenger coaches, to cater to the rising number of semi-high-speed trains, including Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express. Officials said the facility will come up on vacant railway land at an estimated cost of Rs 250 crore. This will be the second major maintenance hub in the city after the newly-built complex at Charbagh, which is almost ready for inauguration. Currently, Vande Bharat trains from Lucknow run to New Delhi, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Patna and Dehradun, with services to Bhopal and Jaipur planned. Amrit Bharat trains to Malda Town (West Bengal), Anand Vihar (New Delhi) and Bihar are already operational. "With the growing number of premium trains, the existing facility at Charbagh alone is not sufficient. The new complex at Malhaur will enable faster maintenance, reduce technical issues and improve punctuality," a senior railway official said. The project is expected to improve passenger experience by ensuring timely train operations and better upkeep of modern rakes, officials added....
