Rlys' notices of eviction issued on 90 structures
Rudrapur, May 26 -- Railway officials have pasted eviction notices on 90 structures in Tanakpur, located in Champawat district, giving occupants seven days to remove the encroachments. If not removed within the stipulated time, the structures will be demolished by the Railways.
"We are carrying out this action on the instructions of higher authorities. A report regarding the issuance of notices will be submitted, and further decisions will be taken at the higher level," said Yashwant Meena, a section engineer with the Railways. Last year, the Railways launched an anti-encroachment drive and demolished around 150 makeshift structures on Railway Station Road. This time, notices have been issued to permanent structures, including hotels, restaurants, and shops. On Saturday, railway officials pasted notices on structures located in areas along Malgodam Road to the Roadways bus station, instructing the encroachers to vacate within seven days. Meanwhile, a delegation representing the affected encroachers visited the chief minister's camp office in Tanakpur on Saturday and submitted a memorandum addressed to the CM....
