Rly safety in focus at police meet
LUCKNOW, April 25 -- Uttar Pradesh DGP Rajeev Krishna chaired a state-level railway security committee meeting at the police headquarters on Friday, stressing the need to strengthen safety measures and prevent incidents such as stone-pelting on trains.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the DG of Railway Police, ADG (Law and Order), IG (Intelligence), IG (Railways), an Intelligence Bureau representative, and divisional railway managers.
Addressing the participants, the DGP described Indian Railways as the country's lifeline and emphasised the importance of close coordination among all agencies involved in railway security. He noted the steady increase in the number of trains, passengers and station footfall, calling for more robust and effective security management.
He also commended the coordinated efforts of railway authorities, Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police during the Maha Kumbh 2025, when around 60 million passengers were transported safely without major incidents.
During the meeting, DG Railway Police Prakash D outlined key priorities, including technological upgrades, prevention of stone-pelting, tackling track obstruction cases, joint patrolling by RPF and GRP, and infrastructure improvements....
