RJD making hollow pledges to women voters in Bihar: Nitish
PATNA/Chhapra/Vaishali, Oct. 24 -- Without taking anyone's names in a rally on Thursday in support of NDA candidates in Manjhi and Maker constituency, JD (U) national president-cum-Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar asked the people that the previous governments (read RJD/Cong) did not do any work for the welfare of the state.
Kumar took a veiled swipe at his former deputy Tejashwi Yadav, accusing him of trying to "mislead" women by making hollow promises about the Jeevika self-help groups.
Kumar, in a post on X said, "The people of Bihar had given them a chance, but they used power to serve their own interests instead of serving the people."His remarks came a day after Yadav, now the Opposition INDIA bloc's chief ministerial candidate, promised government employee status to contractual workers and a hike in monthly remuneration to Rs. 30,000 for nearly two lakh "community mobilisers" involved with Jeevika self-help groups.
"Some people, just before elections, are trying to portray themselves as champions of Jeevika Didis and half of Bihar's population. The truth is, in the name of 'Jeevika Didis', they are seeking a livelihood for their own families," Kumar wrote.
"They are making grand promises of bringing the moon and stars for half the population. Bihar's people gave these individuals a chance as well, but back then, their focus was more on personal gains than on service", he added. He added, "During their rule, women's development was limited to their own families. The pain, suffering, and sting of 'jungle raj' that Bihar's women endured during that period is no secret."Kumar asserted that Bihar today is not what it was before 2005. "Bihar's sisters and daughters are studying, progressing, working, creating jobs, and bringing pride to the state and the country. They know who has truly worked for their uplift," he said, expressing confidence that women would again back the NDA in the upcoming polls.
Kumar in election campaign urged not to vote for such people. "Do not vote for them. If we are elected, development work will continue uninterrupted," said Kumar, who addresses four meetings on Thursday. The CM appealed to the public to elect JDU candidates Randhir Singh (Manjhi) and Manoranjan Singh alias Dhoomal (Ekma).
In his speech, he reminded people of the jungle raj, saying, "You all know that since our government was formed in 2005, we have been engaged in development work. What was the situation before that? The conditions were very bad, people did not step out of their homes after evening. In the evening, people stayed locked inside their homes. Whose government was it then? There was conflict in society and communal riots. There was a lack of education, healthcare, roads, and electricity.
Kumar asserted that there is "no Hindu-Muslim conflict. "On November 24, 2005, our government was formed, and since then, we have been engaged in establishing the rule of law and development work in the state for 20 years."
He further stated that there is no atmosphere of fear in Bihar, even since his party formed the government. "Bihar now has peace, love and brotherhood. Pehele kitna Hindu Muslim jhagda hota tha. We started the gherabandi (encirclement) of graveyards. Miscreants used to enter Hindu temples at night and cause mischief. After 2016, Hindu temples more than 60 years old were fenced to stop the incidents of robbery," Kumar added.
At Goraul block in Vaishali, the CM addressed an election rally at Prem Raj Middle School. On this occasion, JD(U) National Executive President Sanjay Jha, BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal, and other NDA leaders were present. Nitish Kumar stated that since our government was formed, development work has been carried out in Bihar....
