LUCKNOW, Oct. 18 -- Young Sameer Rizvi has been a perfect white ball cricketer as he has the capacity to hit the ball hard and for long too. His 601 runs in 33 T20 ties and 358 runs with a century in 14 List A matches speak the volume of his calibre. But when it comes to red ball cricket, he is almost a failure with just 152 runs in as many as nine first-class matches at an average of 11.69 so far. After enjoying a big success with willow in this year's UPT20 League for Kanpur Superstars, Meerut's Rizvi was expected to let his willow do the talking in the Under-23 CK Nayudu Trophy too, but skipper was once again failed to adjust with red ball and got out on just two on Friday, leaving former champions Uttar Pradesh conceding 96-run first innings lead to hosts Himachal Pradesh at Bilaspur. In reply, to Himachal Pradesh's first innings score of 320, Uttar Pradesh got out for 204 in 65.4 overs and at the close of stumps on Friday, Himachal Pradesh were 31/2, stretching their overall lead to 147 on Day Two. Besides Rizvi, who was bowled by Aditya Chauhan, keeper-batter Akshay Dubey continued his poor form of UPT20 League in red ball cricket too, scoring just nine before being caught by Prashant Kumar off Ritik V Kumar. Himachal Pradesh could add just six runs to their overnight score after resuming the day at 314/9. It wasn't a big target on Luhnu Cricket Ground when Uttar Pradesh begun the ruch chase, but after losing two quick wickets for just 27 in 6.6 overs, Uttar Pradesh never got the going easy and could survive 65.4 overs. Rituraj Sharma remained the star performer for Uttar Pradesh, scoring 96 in 174 balls with the help of five boundaries and four sixes, whereas opener Mohd Aashiyan made 44 in 80 balls with seven hits to the fence. Tailender Naman Tiwari (11) was the other batter, who could reach the double figure mark. For Himachal Pradesh, Aniket and Aditya Chauhan shared six wickets between them, whereas Prashant Kumar and Ritik V Kumar took two wickets each.
