Lucknow, July 23 -- Around one crore mandays of work have been generated through river revival projects across Uttar Pradesh, an official said on Monday. Under the State Mission for Clean Ganga, small rivers are being rejuvenated while creating large-scale rural employment and bringing prosperity to villages. "These efforts are part of CM Yogi's vision to revive at least one river in every district," said Prabhash Kumar, project director of the mission. "The work is being monitored by divisional commissioners with support from District Ganga Committees and departments like MGNREGA, Irrigation, and Minor Irrigation." So far, nearly 2,000 water conservation projects have been completed. These include pond excavation, deepening of water bodies, drain cleaning, and construction of water retention structures. The work has boosted water availability and supported rural sustainability. Large-scale plantation drives along riverbanks are also underway to restore ecological balance. These green efforts are helping mitigate climate change while reviving once-dry rivers. "Farmers now have better access to irrigation water, groundwater levels are rising, and village ecosystems are improving," Kumar added. "The campaign is creating a new chapter of rural growth and ecological harmony in the state."...
