Review Nainital rape case probe weekly: HC
Dehradun, May 7 -- Uttarakhand high court on Tuesday directed Nanital police to review the process of investigation in the Nainital minor's rape case on a weekly basis and submit the action taken report before the court on the next date of hearing on August 5.
The division bench of chief justice G Narender and justice Alok Mahra heard the petition filed by Husan Begum, wife of the rape accused Mohammad Usman.
She had pointed out in her petition that a notice by Nainital municipality was pasted on her house on Thursday, a day after the arrest of her husband, stating that it was located on an encroached land and within 3 days, she had to reply otherwise, action would be taken against her property
Kartikeya Hari Gupta, counsel of the petitioner, said the Nainital municipality filed a counter affidavit that the demolition notice issued against the house of the petitioner has been withdrawn.
Gupta said, "SSP Nainital informed the Court that during the investigation, the sections under the SC/ ST Act have been added as the victim belongs to the Scheduled Caste community. The Court also directed the SSP Nainital to review the process of investigation on weekly basis and submit the action taken Report before this Court on the next date of hearing i.e. 05.08.2025".
