revenue dept launches probe in irregularities in jodhpur case
Barmer, June 21 -- A high-level investigation has been launched by the revenue department into the irregularities in sale of a land of a deceased person in Suthla village of Jodhpur district, Jodhpur district collector Gaurav Goyal said on Friday.
According to an official familiar with the matter, the deceased, Kirtaram, legally owned only 0.1342 hectares (approximately 1,342 square metres) in Khasra number 147/130. However, his heirs executed a sale deed transferring 0.5585 hectares (about 5,585 square meters) under the same Khasra on April 1.
Demanding a high-level probe, BJP MLA Devendra Joshi filed a complaint on June 5 alleging irregularities within the Patwar Circle of Gaya, under his Sursagar assembly constituency. "In Suthla village, Khasra numbers 168/130 and 147/130 were mutated on April 8, 2025, and registration was completed the same day at the Tehsildar's office," Joshi said. "Shockingly, the land in question - around 3.5 bighas - had already been divided and sold off in small plots much earlier, yet fresh registration was carried out despite these earlier transactions."
During the mutation process (Mutation No. 406), which updated government records in the buyers' names, the mutation reflected 0.1342 hectares under Khasra 147/130 and 0.4493 hectares under Khasra 168/130. However, the registration number (202503052102641) for the sale of land in Khasra 168/130 was conspicuously missing from the entry, Joshi said.
The MLA further pointed out that since the land was no longer being used for agriculture, it should have been transferred to the records of the Nagar Nigam (Municipal Corporation), not shown as agricultural land.
Confirming the development, Jodhpur district collector Gaurav Goyal said: "I have directed the sub-divisional officer to conduct a thorough inquiry and submit a detailed report. Strict action will be taken based on the findings."
Meanwhile, the official quoted above alleged a higher ranked revenue department official was involved in this disputed land deed....
