LUCKNOW, April 9 -- A man said to be a retired army personnel has been booked for allegedly beating a stray dog in Lucknow's Indiranagar area. A purported video showing a man assaulting the dog has also surfaced on social media and is being treated as key evidence in the case. According to the FIR (first information report), the incident took place on April 6 in Surya City, Komal Nagar, near Jaiswal General Store in Takrohi. An FIR was registered the following day under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The FIR identified the accused as OP Mishra, who allegedly thrashed the canine over littering the area. According to a complaint filed by Charu Khare, president of Aasra, The Helping Hands Trust, the dog was attacked without provocation and is now in a critical condition. The complaint also alleged that the accused threatened bystanders who tried to intervene. Police said they have initiated an investigation and appropriate legal action will follow based on the findings. Khare said that the animal continues to be critical....
