Retired army officer's house burgled, goods taken away on loader
LUCKNOW, Dec. 28 -- Burglars allegedly targeted the locked house of a retired army officer in Vrindavan Housing Society under the PGI police station limits early Friday morning and made off with goods (cost yet to be estimated) before spending hours inside while rummaging through the cupboards and lockers in each room, police said on Saturday.
The thieves allegedly used a loader to take away goods from the house. An FIR was registered on Saturday in connection with the incident.
According to police, the victim identified as Dilip Gupta was away along with his family for personal work and the house had been locked for two days.
The complaint stated that burglars entered his house around 1:30 am on Friday, as seen in the CCTV footage.
Following the incident, residents of Vrindavan Housing Society raised questions on the effectiveness of existing security arrangements and demanded increased night patrolling.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, two shops on the first floor of Rajaram Complex near Balaji Chauraha in Indira Nagar police station area were burgled on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that thieves broke open the shutter locks of a mobile shop owned by Rajesh, and a Jan Aushadhi Kendra owned by Vijay Prakash Pandey
The burglars allegedly decamped with a customer's mobile phone, Rs.15,000-Rs.20,000 from the mobile shop, Rs.2,000 from the Jan Aushadhi Kendra, and four containers of chyawanprash.htc...
