LUCKNOW, Oct. 5 -- In two separate incidents of cyber fraud, a retired army personnel and a government employee lost over Rs.4 lakh to scamsters. Both cases were registered on the cyber crime portal, and investigations were underway, police said. In one of the cases, Gulzar Ram, a resident of Chinhat and a retired army serviceman, lost Rs.3.08 lakh from his savings account. He told police that on July 6, fraudsters transferred the money out of his account in three unauthorized transactions. In another incident, Sachin Yadav of Gulmohar Colony fell victim to a UPI fraud while travelling to Moradabad by train on September 29. The fraudster withdrew Rs.95,000 from one of his bank accounts and Rs.46,000 from another. Sachin said he lodged a complaint with Moradabad Cyber Police immediately after the incident and later submitted another complaint at the Hazratganj Cyber Office on his return to Lucknow on September 30.Police officials said FIRs have been registered in both cases and technical teams are analysing the transaction trails to identify the fraudsters. htc...
