Resolving public problems govt's priority: Minister to power officials
LUCKNOW, Nov. 4 -- Energy minister AK Sharma expressed strong displeasure over the indifferent attitude of power department officials during a public hearing held at his camp office here on Monday.
The minister's anger was sparked after several complainants alleged that officers of the Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (MVVNL) were often unavailable when approached with electricity-related problems. They also alleged that their phone calls to senior officials frequently went unanswered, leaving them helpless in resolving basic issues like power supply disruptions, billing errors and transformer faults.
Taking serious note of the complaints, Sharma pulled up the officials present there and issued strict directions to ensure that public grievances are addressed promptly and sensitively. He warned that dereliction of duty or lack of accountability would not be tolerated.
"Officials must be accessible to the public. If people's calls go unanswered, it reflects poorly on governance. Every officer must ensure quick redressal of complaints," the minister directed....
