Repair work soon on damaged Ghoda Nala in Varanasi
VARANASI, June 20 -- A section of the 25-feet-deep Ghoda Nala near the Godaulia intersection, damaged during piling work for Tower 29 of the urban ropeway on the night of June 14, will be repaired soon, a senior UP Jal Nigam Urban engineer said after an on-site inspection.
An executive engineer confirmed that all safety measures will be followed during the repairs. Advanced CCTV cameras will be used to monitor the inside of the drain, and sewer chambers will be opened first to release trapped gases. The repair is expected to take around 30 days. SK Ranjan, executive engineer, said planning is underway and efforts will be made to complete the work at the earliest.
According to locals, the Ghoda Nala is part of the historic Shahi Nala, developed by the Mughals as a tunnel and later converted into a sewer system by the British. htc...
