LUCKNOW, June 5 -- A surprise inspection laid bare the substandard work on a synthetic jogging track and poor maintenance of basic amenities at KD Singh Babu Stadium here on Tuesday. The track was developed as part of the Smart City initiative around nine months ago. After the inspection, divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob reprimanded the contractor and ordered immediate repairs. She also directed that the track be cleaned regularly and kept free of dust and debris. Also, the stadium hostel was found facing sewage-related problems due to a choked chamber. The regional sports officer told Jacob that the blockage was affecting sanitation on the premises. She immediately called the Jalkal general manager and instructed the official to prioritise chamber cleaning and ensure all debris was removed from there without delay. Jacob also expressed dissatisfaction over the deteriorated condition of the stadium's infrastructure. She ordered the replacement of broken or low-quality plastic chairs in the cricket stands....
