Remodelling of Daliganj, medical college junctions by Sept
LUCKNOW, June 19 -- People who often commute towards King George's Medical University (KGMU) and Balrampur Hospital may soon cease to witness perennial traffic jams at the Daliganj and Medical College intersections as Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has launched the remodelling of both junctions.
LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar, during a site inspection on Wednesday, directed officials to speed up the work and ensure its completion by September. Highlighting the scale of the issue, he said the heavy traffic load during peak hours often causes long snarls, affecting emergency services and routine travel alike. To address this, the authority has initiated a structural redesign of both intersections.
As part of the remodelling, LDA has begun work on reducing the diameter of the existing rotaries, which currently obstruct smooth traffic flow. Simultaneously, the medians and islands will be redesigned and expanded.
The remodelling plan includes new road markings, signage boards, and improvements in overall road geometry to streamline vehicle movement. Officials confirmed that Rs 72 lakh has been allocated for the Medical College crossing and Rs 87 lakh for Daliganj Tiraha.
Also, LDA is also finalising work on the upcoming Lazeez Gali near Rumi Gate in the Husainabad heritage zone.
The food street is set to become a vibrant hub for tourists and residents, celebrating the rich culinary heritage of Old Lucknow. Prathamesh Kumar visited the site and reviewed progress in the Museum Block, where finishing and electrification works are currently underway....
