Religious conversions: UP women's panel chief for stringent action
LUCKNOW, July 8 -- The Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission chairperson Babita Chauhan has demanded death penalty for those involved in illegal religious conversions. The UP ATS recently arrested Jamaluddin alias Changur Baba, the alleged mastermind behind a major religious conversion racket.
A reward of Rs.50,000 had been declared on his arrest. Reports suggest he targeted girls from multiple communities and even maintained a 'rate list' for conversions - a shocking revelation that has sparked statewide outrage. Condemning the act, Chauhan described it as a "well-orchestrated conspiracy", asserting that "our daughters are not laboratories to test the toxic ideology of forced conversion."
