Redesign city roads for better traffic flow, officials told
Lucknow, Oct. 7 -- Divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant directed public works department (PWD) officials to prioritise the preparation of a redesign plan for several roads in the city for smooth traffic flow.
LDA and municipal corporation officials were told to remove encroachments in front of the entry and exit gates of the Charbagh railway station. These instructions were passed during a meeting on the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) on Monday.
Under the mobility plan, bus stands should be identified and arrangements should be made for more bus stops. A number of bottlenecked areas were identified in the meeting. These are: Charbagh crossing, Vidhan Sabha Marg, Aminabad market, Qaiserbagh, Kamta crossing, Alambagh and many others.
During a review of the progress of the Bridge Corporation's works, concerned officials said that 11 civil works under the department were currently under construction. Pant directed that Bridge Corporation should ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timeframe, while paying special attention to the quality and standards of the works being constructed.
The divisional commissioner also said that, if need be, then manpower and machinery should be increased and work should be carried out day and night to ensure the completion of the entire work within the stipulated timeframe. He also directed that the physical and financial progress reports of the Bridge Corporation's ongoing works be presented to him every month.
The meeting was attended by additional commissioner administration Radheshyam, along with relevant officials and employees of the PWD, Railways, bridge corporation, LDA, and City Transport were present on the occasion....
