LUCKNOW, May 27 -- It will be the 70th and final league match of this Indian Premier League season here on Tuesday. The game holds a lot of importance for favourites Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who are already in the playoffs, but hosts Lucknow Super Giants and its skipper Rishabh Pant too will be keen to finish on a high. LSG went out of the playoffs race somewhat early, but will look to finish on a positive note. Pant will aim for a big knock before the England Test tour next month. For RCB, a win will help them finish among the top two in the table with 19 points. RCB could have consolidated their position for a top finish even on Friday against Sunrisers Hyderabad, but they lost a high-scoring game. A top finish in the league will guarantee two shots at getting to the final. From Monday's game in Jaipur, only Punjab Kings can get to 19 points while a Mumbai Indians win will take them only to 18. That means the equation before RCB is simple: win the game. Gujarat Titans are on 18 points. The teams that finish No.1 and 2 in the points table play each other in Qualifier 1 on Thursday and the winner of that match will go straight to the final. The loser of Qualifier 1 will get a second chance to make the final by playing Qualifier 2 against the winner of the Eliminator, which is a knockout match between the teams that finish No.3 and 4 in the points table. As far as LSG are concerned, Pant stands at the eighth position within the teams' batters list with just 151 runs in 13 matches at an average of 13.72. A big knock in the last IPL game will certainly boost his confidence ahead of the Test series. So far, LSG's batting has revolved around Mitchell Marsh (560 runs), Nicholas Pooran (511 runs) Aiden Markram (445 runs). The only Indian batter to show some consistency has been Ayush Badoni (329 runs). For RCB, Virat Kohli has been the leading run getter with 548 runs at 60.88 and he will be looking for yet another fine knock before the playoffs when he opens the innings with Phil Salt, who has already made his presence felt with 301 runs so far. The big news for RCB ahead of the match against LSG and the playoffs happens to be the return of their leading wicket-taker Josh Hazlewood, who was nursing a shoulder niggle. Hazlewood, with 18 wickets despite playing only 10 games, hasn't played since April 27, having returned to Australia when IPL went into a temporary shutdown following cross-border tension between India and Pakistan. He was the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker this IPL with 18 wickets at an average of 17.27 and economy rate of 8.44. If he gets going on Tuesday, it will be quite easy for RCB against LSG. The next most successful wicket-taker for RCB is left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya with 15. Yash Dayal is their next successful quick bowler, with 10 wickets. Lungi Ngidi, who had filled in for Hazlewood, will not be around for the playoffs because of South Africa duties.
