Ranger killed by tiger in Ranthambore
Jaipur, May 12 -- A forest ranger was killed by a tiger in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve while he was on duty on Sunday, an official said. This comes almost a month after a seven-year-old boy was killed by a big cat near the Trinetra Ganesh Temple, located within the Ranthambore reserve.
"The forest ranger, Devendra Chaudhary, was recently promoted to the position of ranger and was also given additional charge of Jogi Mahal. While tracking near the Chhoti Chhatri (which is undergoing repair work) on Sunday afternoon, he was suddenly attacked by a tiger," the official said.
The official said that the tiger remained near the body for nearly 20 minutes, making it difficult for the officials to retrieve it.
"After considerable effort, the forest department managed to secure the body, which was then transported to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Deep bite and claw marks were found on the ranger's neck," the official said. htc...
