Rally driver missing, Singhania injured in Maldives boat mishap
Mumbai, March 21 -- Industrialist Gautam Singhania was airlifted to Mumbai after suffering minor injuries in a speedboat accident in the Maldives, while ace Indian rally driver Hari Singh, 59, remains missing, officials aware of the matter said on Friday.
"Gautam Singhania suffered minor injuries following an unfortunate accident. He is recovering under due care in Mumbai," said Singhania's spokesperson. The five-time Indian rally champion Singh was on holiday with friends, including Singhania and a former naval officer from Mumbai, when the speedboat they were travelling in capsized near Felidhoo Island in the early hours.
According to local media reports in the Maldives, five Indian men, including Singh and Singhania, along with two women from the UK and Russia were on board when the vessel capsized around 1.15am local time.
Automobile magazine Autocar India said search and rescue operations were underway. "Indian rally legend Hari Singh has been reported missing after a speedboat accident involving multiple people in the Maldives. Search and rescue operations are currently underway," it said in a post on X....
