LUCKNOW, Dec. 30 -- City police on Monday rescued an 18-year-old man, who was allegedly abducted here, held captive for two days and moved around Jaunpur, police said. Three men were arrested after the youngster was found with them in a car in the Sushant Golf City area. The friend who was accompanying him managed to escape the trio when the two were assaulted, and approached police. The two 18-year-olds, from Rajasthan's Jaipur, were assaulted allegedly over a debt dispute, said DCP South Nipun Agarwal said. According to Agarwal, the prime accused Vinod Kumar Yadav and his associates Saurabh Pathak and Mohammad Tabis Khan claimed that Lokesh Meena, one of the two teenagers, owed the three a sum of Rs.4.5 lakh. "When repeated demands failed, the trio allegedly decided abduct Lokesh and his friend," he added. ADCP South Vasanth Rallapalli said Yadav asked Lokesh to come to Lucknow on December 27. The latter arrived in his SUV (RJ14 UL 4311) with Sumit Byadwad. What followed was an argument over money that quickly turned violent. Police said Lokesh was assaulted, his vehicle seized, and both men were abducted. "While Lokesh managed to escape, Sumit was taken hostage and moved around in Jaunpur for nearly two days as the accused allegedly tried to pressure Lokesh and his family into arranging money. But when no ransom materialised and pressure mounted, the accused decided to return to Lucknow hoping that they would find Lokesh," the ADCP added. The DCP said that acting on technical surveillance, call data analysis and field intelligence, the Sushant Golf City police tracked the suspects' movements and intercepted them soon after their return. Sumit was rescued unharmed, and the stolen SUV was recovered. "A search of the accused led to the recovery of a country-made .315 bore pistol from Vinod Kumar Yadav, resulting in additional Arms Act charges," read details shared by police. The trio has been booked under Sections 309(6), 140(2) and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3/25 of the Arms Act, and sent to judicial custody. Police said Yadav was a history-sheeter with cases against him ranging from murder to NDPS....
