LUCKNOW, Feb. 19 -- After noticeable variations in day and night temperatures, the weather in western Uttar Pradesh has suddenly changed as heavy rains occurred in Noida and Bulandshahr as per forecast by the weatherman. Cloudy skies were seen over Meerut and Bareilly while strong winds were blowing in Sambhal, Ghaziabad, and Amroha. Taj city Agra received 0.2 mm rainfall, while Meerut and Aligarh received some showers. Maximum temperature in Agra dropped to 24.1 degrees, Meerut 21.9, Muzaffarnagar 20.5, and Najibabad 22 degrees celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain and hail alert for February 18 and 19. According to the Met department, thunderstorms are possible in 13 districts of western Uttar Pradesh. Light drizzle is expected in five districts of Bundelkhand. Winds may also blow at speeds of 30 to 40 km per hour. There is also a possibility of lightning and hail in some places. On Wednesday, Banda was the hottest district with day temperature soaring to 31.2 degrees. Gorakhpur was second with 29.6 degrees, Azamgarh was third with 29.4 degrees, Varanasi (airport) was fourth with 29.3 and Bahraich recorded 29.2 degrees celsius. The lowest minimum temperature of 8.2 degrees was recorded in Banda, 9.5 degrees was recorded at Bulandshahr and 9.7 degrees in Kanpur City.
