Rahul key mediator in VIP seat deal: Dipankar
Patna, Oct. 19 -- Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi emerged as the key mediator in seat-sharing negotiations with the Mukesh Sahani-led Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) ahead of the Bihar elections, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said on Saturday.
Speaking at the Hindustan Bihar Samagam 2025 in Patna, Bhattacharya recounted his talks with Sahani during seat-sharing discussions in the Grand Alliance. "You are fighting for the protection of democracy and the Constitution. You were with us in Voter Adhikar Yatra and Lok Sabha elections," Bhattacharya told Sahani, urging unity over the disputed two to four seats.
The CPI(ML) Liberation leader said that Sahani then wrote a letter to Gandhi, who responded with a direct call. "After that conversation, Sahni agreed to 15 seats," he said.
Exuding confidence in resolving intra-alliance tensions, Bhattacharya said "friendly fights" on eight overlapping seats with RJD, Congress and Left parties would turn favourable post the nomination withdrawal deadline for first phase. "We hope the other allied parties will also do the same," he added....
