India, March 22 -- A parliamentary standing committee report on the Yamuna tabled in Parliament on Tuesday said the river is virtually "dead" in the stretch flowing through Delhi. It flagged "serious and systemic hurdles" in cleansing the river of pollutants, underling the raw sewage dumped into the Yamuna, especially in Delhi, was far more than the treatment capacity. The Yamuna, which like the Ganga is revered by many Hindus, was also a major issue in last month's Delhi assembly elections....
