VARANASI, Oct. 14 -- A PWD team has pasted notices on 181 buildings, coming under the ambit of Dalmadi road-widening project, in the locality here. At the same time, a team, led by additional district magistrate (ADM), city, Alok Kumar Verma, made public announcements to this effect and asked owners of the said buildings to submit documents related to ownership. Though the notices were pasted on Sunday evening, only a few people have submitted their documents. KK Singh, executive engineer, PWD (provincial division), confirmed that notices had been pasted on buildings affected by the widening project. Building owners have been asked to come to the office with their ownership documents. The 650-meter-long Dal Mandi Road is to be widened to 17.5 meters at a cost of approximately Rs 221 crore. This includes Rs23.99 crore for civil work (construction), Rs 194 crore for compensation, and Rs 3 crore for utility zshifting (shifting of electricity poles, sewer lines, drinking water pipelines, etc). The widening area includes 184 buildings. The tender process for the project has been completed The PWD has sent a proposal to the government for approval of the compensation rate.
