Chandigarh, Nov. 16 -- Amritsar senior superintendent of police Maninder Singh was suspended over his alleged "failure" of taking strict action against gangsters, government officials familiar with the matter said on Saturday. While ordering Singh's suspension, chief minister Bhagwant Mann in a statement said: "Laxity of any kind while acting against gangsters will not be tolerated." Maninder Singh, a 2019-batch IPS officer, was appointed as Amritsar Rural SSP in February this year. He was posted as assistant commissioner of Police in the Amritsar Commissionerate.
