Haridwar, May 11 -- Proposals worth Rs.3,483.25 crore have been submitted to the state government by various departments for developmental works ahead of the Ardh Kumbh Mela to be held in Haridwar in 2027, an official said on Saturday. "Projects have been categorized into three types: permanent (long-term), semi-permanent, and short-term works. For the entire Ardh Kumbh Mela area, 220 permanent projects worth Rs.2,266.36 crores and 431 temporary projects worth Rs.1,216.89 crores have been proposed. They have been sent to the state government for approval," said mela deputy officer Ajay Veer Singh. According to another official, unlike the previous Ardh Kumbh fair which did not see the participation of akhadas, all 13 akhadas will take part in the 2027 Ardh Kumbh. "As per the vision of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the 2027 Ardh Kumbh fair will be organised in a grand and majestic manner. All government departments have submitted their proposals, and this time, major emphasis has been placed on permanent infrastructure that can also be used during the Maha Kumbh, Kanwar Yatra, and other annual religious events in Haridwar. The Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, saints, Ganga Sabha, and other local stakeholders are also being consulted, and their suggestions are being incorporated," said Vinay Shankar Pandey, commissioner of the Garhwal division. The Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, the apex body of the 13 major akhadas, has also announced plans to organise the Amrit Snan (formerly known as Shahi Snan) during the 2027 Ardh Kumbh. "On the request of CM Dhami, the Akhada Parishad has agreed to participate in Ardh Kumbh 2027, similar to their involvement in the Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025.
