Property dealer held for raping Rishikesh woman
Dehradun, April 7 -- A property dealer has been arrested for allegedly raping a 40-year-old woman in Rishikesh along with his two partners on multiple occasions between 2021 and 2024, police said on Monday, adding that the victim's husband, accused of forcing her into the acts, has also been booked in a separate case.
An FIR has been registered at Rishikesh police station under IPC sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) against Manjeet Johar, his son Manav Johar, and Kushagra Sharma on the complaint of the survivor.
Police on Saturday arrested Sharma, while the father-son duo remains absconding.
SP (rural) Jaya Baloni said the victim alleged that her husband began working with the Johars in 2021 and that the family had been in contact with the accused for a long time and was financially dependent on them. "She alleged that her husband pressured her to have physical relations with them for his own benefit. She stated she was sexually assaulted on multiple occasions by the accused between 2021 and 2024," Baloni said.
"We have arrested one of the accused, Sharma, while efforts are underway to nab the remaining two," she said, adding a separate case had been registered against the husband, in which a charge sheet has been filed. htc...
