Probe launched after Delhi woman found dead in Nainital hotel
Rudrapur, April 3 -- An investigation has been launched after a 40-year-old woman from Delhi was found dead in a room of a hotel on Nainital Road in Udham Singh Nagar district on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP), US Nagar, Ajay Ganpati said a first information report (FIR) will be registered after receiving a complaint from the deceased woman's family.
"Police have received no concrete evidence regarding the cause of death so far. I have instructed the concerned police station to register an FIR. The deceased's sister is submitting a complaint. The body has been handed over to the relatives after post-mortem examination," said Ganpati on Thursday evening.
Police identified the deceased as Jyoti Sharma, who used to run a dhaba in Delhi.
According to police, Sharma was travelling to Kainchi Dham along with her business partner Amit Chaudhary on Tuesday. The duo reached Rudrapur on Wednesday morning and checked into a room at a hotel on Nainital Road.
Police said that when Sharma did not wake up around noon, Chaudhary attempted to wake her. When she failed to respond, he approached the hotel reception for assistance. The hotel staff then alerted the police and rushed her to a government hospital where doctors declared her dead. Police reached the spot and inspected the hotel room. A forensic team was also called to examine the scene and collect evidence, officials said.
Meanwhile, woman's sister Vandana Sharma, who arrived from Delhi, has alleged foul play and demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to her sister's death. Ganpati said police are examining all aspects of the case. "During the preliminary inquiry it came to light that the deceased and her business partner had some financial dispute related to their business. There was also a heated exchange between them on March 11. Police are investigating the matter from every possible angle," the SSP added....
