LUCKNOW, Aug. 21 -- Sparkling half-century by former UP skipper Priyam Garg and a three-wicket haul by young acer Kishan Singh guided local outfits Lucknow Falcons score their second win in the 3rd edition of the UPTwenty20 League, defeating last year's runners-up Kanpur Superstars by 13 runs, at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. Garg struck 40-ball 69 (4x4, 5x6), whereas Samasrth Singh 38 (27b, 7x4) and Mohd Saif 45 (32b, 5x4) made useful contributions as Lucknow Falcons managed 184/5 after being sent to bat first. Vineet Panwar (3/34) and Shubham Mishra (2/12) excelled with the ball for Kanpur Superstars. In reply, Kanpur Superstars despite yet another fine knock of 81 runs by Adarsh Singh could make 166/6. In his 50-ball innings, Adarsh smacked 10 boundaries and two sixes. A slow batting by opener Yashu Pradhan (27, 30b, 3x4) turned out be the key point for teams' third consecutive loss in as many matches. Young Kishan Singh bowled his heart out and took 3/34, whereas Vipraj Nigam and Akshu Bajwa shared two wickets between them. Earlier, Gorakhpur Lions registered their first win in the tournament by defeating Noida Kings by 14 runs in the first match of the day. Gorakhpur batted first and scored 186/7. In reply, Noida Kings got out for 172 runs in 19.3 overs. Gorakhpur's bowlers performed brilliantly and completely stopped Noida's run rate in the initial overs. Captain Akshdeep Nath played the biggest innings for Gorakhpur, scoring 42 in 33 balls. Prince Yadav (28 runs, 12 balls), Hardeep Singh (30 runs) and Shivam Sharma (21 not out) also made useful contributions.
