Privatisation: UPPCL begins talks with protesting staff
LUCKNOW, May 6 -- Amid an ongoing indefinite fast by the power employees against the proposed privatisation of two discoms, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) management on Monday held its first meeting in five months with the Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti over the dispute.
The meeting chaired by UPPCL chairman Ashish Kumar Goel was attended by several officials and power union leaders, including Shailendra Dubey.
"In the meeting, we demanded the withdrawal of all punitive actions taken during the protests to enable a constructive dialogue," Dubey said.
According to him, the chairman responded with a presentation, though union leaders questioned its accuracy. Talks are expected to continue, with the committee insisting on restoration of cut salaries before further negotiations.htc...
