Dehradun, Nov. 3 -- President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday inaugurated two new visitor-centric facilities, a foot overbridge and a horse riding area, at the Rashtrapati Niketan in Dehradun, aimed at enhancing both accessibility and heritage experience at the complex. Officials said the 105-foot-long foot overbridge, constructed over Rajpura Road, now provides seamless connectivity between Rashtrapati Niketan and the upcoming 132-acre Rashtrapati Park. Built by the state public works department (PWD) at a cost of Rs.9 crore, the structure showcases the aesthetics of local Himalayan architecture while ensuring safety and inclusivity, said officials. The President also inaugurated a 0.7-acre horse riding facility within the complex, reflecting the historic tradition of the President's Bodyguard (PBG). Developed by the central public works department (CPWD), the state-of-the-art facility includes a stable with capacity for eight horses, treatment and bathing rooms, feeding spaces, and a dedicated viewing corridor for visitors. The new riding area will be open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm daily, except Mondays.
