President's Cup: Of gallopinghorses, jazz and awards
LUCKNOW, Oct. 26 -- It was a night full of cheer and excitement as crowds dressed in their finest gathered to watch galloping horses during the President's Cup, organised by the Lucknow Race and Turf Club, on Saturday.
The evening opened with a jazz performance, followed by the first race in the 'Indianbred' category.
Burak, owned by Mohammad Abdullah, was declared the winner, followed by Golden Boy (Shabab Abbas Naqvi) in second place and Uncle's Pet (Amar Habibullah) in third.
In the 'Thoroughbred' category, Pinnacle Point (Amar Habibullah) clinched first place, with Shaan-e-Azeem (JN Mathur) and Golden Oals (Mohammad Abdullah) finishing second and third respectively.
Awards for both categories were presented by Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva, COS Central Command, and patron of LR&TC, accompanied by Maj Gen Salil Seth, former GOC MUPSA & president of LR&TC, and Brig Maneesh Kukrety, SM (GOC) MUPSA designate.
In addition to racing honours, style awards were also conferred.
Naysha and Ibrahim won the 'Princess' and 'Prince' titles, while Shikha Seth and Dhanushveer Singh were named Best Dressed Lady and Gentleman respectively.
Major Ashmeet Singh and Swati were crowned winners in the "Made for Each Other" (Young Couple) category, and Major General and Navneet Narain took the title in the Senior Couple category....
