Lucknow, Nov. 11 -- A high-level meeting was convened by the urban development department to review preparedness across municipal bodies in Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, in view of the approaching cold wave. All municipal commissioners have been directed to make comprehensive arrangements to protect the homeless and underprivileged from severe cold. According to an official of the urban development department, there is a need for adequate night shelters (Raen Baseras) and bonfire arrangements at key public locations such as bus stands, railway stations, hospitals, and major crossings. Officials have been instructed to ensure timely repair, cleanliness, and availability of blankets and warm bedding at all shelters. In Lucknow, municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar held a review meeting on Monday and personally inspected several night shelters to assess on-ground readiness. Instructions were issued to enhance capacity and ensure that no person is left without protection during the cold wave period.
