PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 19 -- The Magh Mela 2026 administration has decided to set up a Prayawal Nagar in sector two A of the mela near Nagvasuki temple. This will aid pilgrims coming from Gonda, Bahraich, Balrampur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Lucknow, Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, etc districts, to attend the Mela. The Nagar will help kalpvasis and pilgrims to reach Ganga easily, as teerth purohits who have pilgrims hailing from these districts will also be allowed to set up their camps in Prayagwal Nagar. Prayagwal Sabha is the official organisation of over a 1,000 teerth purohits residing in and around Sangam area and have been serving devotees and pilgrims arriving in Magh Mela, Kumbh and Mahakumbh every year. According to Rajendra Paliwal, president of Prayagwal Sabha, the new set up will help Kalpvasis and pilgrims to bathe in Sangam everyday with ease as the Nagar will be set up near the banks of the Ganga. Generally, scattered placement of teerth purohits in mela area leads to problems for pilgrims as they are forced to walk long distances every day to bathe in Ganga. He further said that the rule for allocation of land in the mela area should be the same for everyone. Mela Authority officials, he alleged, were indulging in partiality. First they allotted land to Acharya Bada and Dandi Bada in the first week of December and later they allotted it to other organisations. This has generated resentment amongst organisations which had applied for land and other facilities during the Magh Mela....
