PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 13 -- Six masked assailants stormed the office of a private firm involved in the CM Grid Project in Transport Nagar, Prayagraj, on Thursday night and brutally assaulted Project Manager Satendra Kumar. Kumar sustained serious injuries after being attacked with sticks and iron rods. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack may have stemmed from a dispute related to extortion. According to reports, the private firm PBK Company, which is executing development work under the CM Grid Project, operates from an office in Transport Nagar. Kumar was working in his office as usual on Thursday evening when the attackers barged in and launched the assault. The sudden and violent incident caused panic among other employees present at time. Eyewitnesses alleged that the miscreants also fired shots to intimidate staff, although police have denied any reports of gunfire. Officers from Dhoomanganj police station arrived promptly at the scene upon receiving information about the attack. They assisted in shifting the injured project manager to a hospital and have begun efforts to identify the culprits through CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Sources claim the attack may be linked to an ongoing extortion dispute involving a local corporator. However, police say the matter is still under investigation. A man was feared drowned after he allegedly jumped off a bridge in front of his wife and son in this district on Friday afternoon. As per reports, the 47-year-old was returning to Jagatpur with his family in a bus. When the bus reached the Shashtri bridge, he got off the bus and jumped into the Ganga. Earlier in the day, he had gone to Kamla Nehru Hospital, where the doctors told him that he was suffering from cancer.
