Prayagraj's Aryan wins a golden double in ranking T-T
LUCKNOW, July 1 -- Prayagraj's Aryan Kumar won a double at the 1st UP State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament in Aligarh on Monday as he finished top both in youth and junior boys categories. Kumar first defeated Agra's Maulik Chaturvedi 11-9, 11-3, 12-10 in the youth boys final, before defeating Ghaziabad's Arnav Panwar 11-9, 11-5, 11-9 in the junior boys final. Lucknow's Divyansh Srivastava won the men's singles title, defeating Sarth Mishra of Ghaziabad 11-8, 11-8, 11-4.
Ghaziabad's Aarti Choudhary walked away with the women's singles title, brushing aside compatriot Anika Gupta 11-8, 11-4, 11-7. Another girl from Ghaziabad Avani Tripathi claimed the youth girls title, beating citymate Disha 11-6, 11-3, 1-6, whereas the junior girls title went to Agra's Shreya Agarwal, who defeated Yashika Tiwari of Ghaziabad 11-9, 11-9, 11-2.
In the sub-junior boys final, Agra's Keshav Khandelwal dominated in all four games before defeating Kanpur's Ashutosh Gupta 11-13, 11-3, 11-8, 11-7.
Vedant Chandra of gautam Budh nagar, who won four gold medals, was on Monday declared as individual champion in Group I of the UP State Sub-Junior and Junior Aquatics Championship here. His city mate Shyala Bhati with five gold got the honours in the female category.
As many as 10 new records were established on the final day of the three-day championship. Krishna Yadav and Sidak Kaur in Group II and Ansh Pratap Singh and Shreeja Singh in Group III were declared individual champions.
However, Gautam Budh nagar with 213 points each emerged overall champions both in the Group I, and Group II, whereas hosts Lucknow with 46 points stood first in the Group III.
A 20-day summer handball training camp organised with the objective of improving the emerging players concluded here on Monday, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Bajpai Multipurpose Hall at the KD Singh 'Babu' Stadium under the aegis of District Handball Association Lucknow. National coach Tauheed and assistant coach Sonu Kumar gave intensive training in technical knowledge to 40 players....
