PRAYAGRAJ, April 19 -- Prayagraj is gearing up for the upcoming Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC) 5.0, with significant progress visible in industrial projects across the district. The initiative is part of the broader push to transform the state into an industrial powerhouse, say district officials. According to officials, projects worth nearly Rs.9950 crore from recently signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs have moved into the execution phase. Of these, 14 industrial units have already begun production, while around 25 units are nearing completion, indicating steady progress in converting investment proposals into operational ventures, said deputy commissioner of industries Sharad Tandon. He said that against a total investment target of Rs.10,000 crore for Prayagraj, MoUs worth Rs.9,950 crore have already been signed. "Efforts are underway to ensure these commitments translate into on-ground development," he added. The steel and cement sectors have emerged as key contributors to investment under GBC 5.0. Gallant Ispat is leading with an investment exceeding Rs.500 crore. In the cement sector, JK Lakshmi Cement Group is investing approximately Rs.400 crore. Other major contributors include Bisleri Industries and Ellenbarrie Industrial Gases, each committing around Rs.200 crore, while Chemco Plastics is investing over Rs.100 crore, officials shared. Officials noted that these industrial developments are expected to generate more than 13,000 employment opportunities in the district, further boosting the region's economic growth.
