PRAYAGRAJ, June 28 -- The district court here on Friday awarded 10 years' jail term to an accused convicted of killing a teenager on March 19, 2023 in Kadipur of Nagar Kotwali in Pratapgarh district. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on the convict. The court directed to give Rs 15,000 as compensation to the father of the deceased. As per Sakir Ali, a resident of Kadipur village, on the evening of March 29, 2023, his nephew Talib Ali, 14, had some dispute with other children of the village. Talib was going to offer namaz and had reached near the mosque when Arif, Shabnam, Meena and a juvenile offender allegedly attacked him with an axe. Talib was first taken to the district hospital from where he was referred to Prayagraj but he died on the way. District and sessions Judge Satya Prakash Tripathi, after hearing the case, acquitted the accused Shabnam and Meena due to lack of evidence while Arif was convicted and sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment.
